the Bible
The Bible is God’s inspired Word to us. It was written by people, under the influence of the Holy Spirt. It is the supreme standard for truth in the universe and the rule book for all Christian living. The Bible, itself, declares it is truth without error.
water baptism
Water baptism is a symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Once we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, baptism is a way for us to publicly declare our new life in Christ and it is a reassurance for believers that they are united with God. Jesus was baptized and commanded that all believers were to be also.
baptism of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity and He is given to believers who ask for Him. He empowers you to live a sanctified and holy life, and to be effective in service to God.
discipleship
Discipleship is the obligation of every follower of Jesus Christ. Jesus commands us to go and make disciples in all the earth. We believe that each person is responsible to first evangelize and disciple their own family, then their community, and then the world, as the Holy Spirit leads them and gives them the ability.
tithe
The Bible teaches us that it is every believer’s duty to give and that standard of giving is our tithe and offerings. In Genesis 12, God declares that He has blessed us so that we may be a blessing. Malachi 3 tells us how we are to pay our tithe (tenth) to the Lord’s house and also it tells us how to give our offerings, which is above and beyond our tithe. Galatians 6 reveals that sowing seed always brings a harvest and finally, 2 Corinthians 9 says we are to give with a cheerful heart. At DCC, we have many members in our congregation who point to tithing as the turning point for them experiencing God’s provision in their lives.
the priesthood of the believer
Jesus Christ grants every believer a unique relationship with the Lord. As His child, every Christian has immediate access to the throne of grace and the ability to manifest the power of the Lord Jesus Christ in ministry. In other words, you have the same access to God as your leadership.
salvation
Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offering of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
